Working from home

Greetings

We hope this note finds you well.

We want to let you know the status of our studio in light of the

COVID-19 crisis. We are each working from our homes, tightly connected through the magic that is wifi. We have been conducting virtual meetings with the capability to screen-share drawings with each other, clients, and industry partners. Although almost all construction is presently on hold, planning for future construction is not. Furthering or developing future projects has been a productive way to spend this time of temporary isolation.

Which brings me to the next point.

We want to let you know we are completely available to answer any questions or help any way we can on sheltering in place.

For many, this may include unexpected work from home situations. Some have home offices, but others might have less than ideal home/workspaces facing ergonomic, spacial, or acoustic challenges.

On that note we'd like to offer some suggestions (survival guide?)

for working and/or schooling from home:

1. Face a room's entrance when seated at a desk.

It's important to feel fully at ease when concentrating. The vulnerability of not knowing who is coming or going at your back (even subconsciously) reduces your ability to focus.

2. Provide proper illumination.

Most of us work at computers, and don't pay attention to the importance of good quality lighting beyond the screen. However, even when we're not "plugged in", task lighting positioned over your least dominant hand provides a shadow -free and therefore distraction-free work surface.

3. Provide ergonomically correct seating and adjust your chair height so your work is at comfortable eye level.

Sitting in a chair with improper posture can cause pain, especially in the back and neck. To minimize this, the CDC found that sit/stand desks can actually reduce back and neck pain by reducing sitting time in as little as 66 minutes a day. Plenty of "Sit-to-Stand" desk risers are available online. If you would like specific resources, please let us know.

Lastly, set up systems that allow you to start each day fresh and as inspired as possible. Organize your work/study space at the end of each day so that you can begin each new one more efficiently

and with clarity.

We will get through this together one day at a time. Please don't hesitate to let us know how we can help you.

Stay Healthy.

Best,

Lenore
